MSR, the Israel Center for Medical Simulation, is an international leader in the innovative and evolving field of medical simulation and patient safety. Founded in 2001 by Dr. Amitai Ziv, at the Sheba Medical Center, MSR's multi-modality approach enables multi-disciplinary training to over 7,000 health care professionals per year in a wide variety of over sixty vital courses, through hands-on practice in immersive simulated medical environments.
By replacing the real medical environment, MSR takes a unique approach toward improving patient safety. The training emphasizes essential patient safety aspects such as teamwork and communication skills, through extreme and challenging medical conditions with fidelity sufficient to achieve suspension of disbelief on the part of the trainee. |

Communications Skills
MSR offers a number of medical simulation programs dedicated to enhancing the communication skills of healthcare professionals. MSR uses simulated patients (role playing actors) to teach the challenging tasks of delivering bad news, obtaining informed consent and the detection of domestic abuse. MSR employs more than 100 simulated patients ranging in age from adolescents to ages 80 and above. All of MSR's simulated patients receive specific training allowing them to accurately replicate a wide range of medical conditions and behaviors. The use of simulated patients allows for a more intimate and interpersonal training environment. |
