Train the Trainer

A crucial factor in SBME is the quality and preparedness of the instructors. Often, the instructors are experts in the relevant medical field, but have limited experience in SBME.
MSR teaches various debriefing techniques that improve the instructor's skills in debriefing, providing feedback and facilitation. The workshops can be tailored to teach a specific domain including: CRM, interpersonal communication skills and clinical skills.
Video-based Debriefing: Using video as an educational tool is underutilized. The video enhances self-reflection and a learner-centered approach. MSR provides practical tools to embed video-based debriefing and learning into simulation based training. The workshop includes live and video-based scenarios for implementing debriefing skills, tailored to trainees' background and experience. The workshop teaches and trains core instructor roles of observation, processing, debriefing and facilitating based on MSR's debriefing model.
On-the-Job Training (OJT): A technique focusing on orientation, demonstration and teaching of clinical skills within the simulation / clinical environment. The workshop teaches and trains the key elements of OJT, based on MSR's model. The training provides the instructor tools to intervene without compromising the scenario flow and learning objectives.
