Target Audience: Nurses (RN) working in internal medicine departments or intensive / intermediate care units whose responsibilities include caring for patients with complex respiratory failure.
Objectives:
- Assessment and recognition of complex medical situations in mechanically ventilated patients.
- Comprehensive care of patients with respiratory failure.
- Teamwork - practice and management.
- Management of mechanical ventilator failure.
- Communicating with the patient and the patient's family.
Course Description: This course has been designed to improve the level of care of patients suffering from respiratory failure, who are dependent on a respirator. The scenarios take place in an internal medicine department or intensive / intermediate care unit, and are geared towards nursing staff.
The is course includes challenging scenarios representing complex clinical situations involving mechanically ventilated patients, and as such, require rapid assessment and decision making in order to promptly provide the best treatment.
Trainees will practice team management as well as communication with other team members, the patient, and the patient's family. These scenarios have been selected to enable trainees to experience challenging and realistic clinical situations involving respiratory failure in order to improve their management of treatment and teamwork without compromising patient safety. |
