|
Target Population: Primary health care takers including physicians, nurses and social workers
Objectives: The course is held in collaboration with Israel's Ministry of Health and the Jewish Federation of New-York. The objective of this course is to improve the communication and clinical skills of primary health care takers to better identify and manage patients of different age groups and gender in the area of abuse, and to discuss medical legal issues.
Course Description: Participants encounter simulated patients (actors), their immediate family or caretakers in scenarios focusing on various issues surrounding abuse (including physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse and neglect).
Colleagues and debriefing facilitators observe the encounters through one-way glass panels, and audiovisual recordings are made for the debriefing sessions. On completion of the encounter, the participant receives feedback from the simulated patient, colleagues and debriefing facilitators and the recorded encounter is watched and discussed in the debriefing session. |
