Advanced Skills in the Operating Room

Target Population: Experienced operating room nurses. Objectives: To become familiar with the modern endoscopic theater, teamwork and proper assistance to the surgeon in various endoscopic procedures, safety in the modern endoscopic OR such as risks for the patient; medical informatics: keeping records of procedures; identifying the high risk patient for endoscopic surgery; and special difficulties encountered during the cleaning of the surgical equipment A special "hands on" session will be provided concerning "trouble shooting" of common and less common problems in the advanced endoscopic theater. Course Description: One day course includes oral and video sessions, practical demonstrations and "hands on" experience in small groups. Participants who demonstrate the knowledge and practical skills to assist laparoscopic surgery will receive a certificate of successful completion.  This course is held in collaboration with the Israel Training Endoscopy Center. Debriefing with experienced facilitators and the whole group of participants follows the simulated sessions, with the use of the recorded encounters, which are watched and discussed.
