Informed Consent

Target Audience:
Obstetrics physicians and nurses.

Objectives:

The objective of this course is to improve physicians-patient communication skills in discussing gynecological and obstetrics issues, and to obtain informed consent.

Course Description:
Participants encounter simulated patients –actors- or their immediate family in scenarios focusing on obstetrics procedure. Participates learn methods of how to communicate with patients and obtain informed consent for a gynecological or obstetrics procedure.  Obstetrics crisis management issues are also covered in this course.

 

Colleagues and debriefing facilitators observe the encounters through one-way glass window, and audiovisual recordings are made for the debriefing sessions.  Upon completion of the encounters the recorded encounter is watched and discussed in the debriefing session, and participants receive feedback from the simulated patient, colleagues and debriefing facilitators.
