Basic Nursing Skills

Target Population: Student nurse practitioners Objectives: This course was developed in cooperation with senior nursing school instructors in accordance with guidelines from the Ministry of Health Nursing Department.  The course focuses on nursing skills and procedures required for nursing certification, including: CPR using various airway and oxygen adjuncts; identification of methods for airway control and optimum ventilation; the preparation and insertion of intravenous, and urinary catheters, treating the patient with respiratory distress; management of the ventilated patient, patient education before medical or nursing procedures including pharmacological treatments in adults and pediatric patients. Course Description: Cases are presented in small group teaching stations using task trainers and full-body patient simulators.
