Clinical Skills in Neonatal Emergencies

Target Audience:
Medical teams including physicians and nurses from neonatal units

Objectives:
The objective of this course is to improve the clinical skills required in the management of neonatal emergencies.

Course Description:
Participants interact with and treat neonatal patient simulators in scenarios focusing on various common neonatal emergencies: meconium aspiration, a bradycardic newborn, a pale newborn (unnoticed hemorrhage), respiratory challenges of the newborn, Hypoglycemia and seizures, the rapidly deteriorating newborn (metabolic issues). Instructors observe the encounters and audiovisual recordings are made for the debriefing sessions.  On completion of the encounter, the participants debrief and receive feedback from the instructors.
