Identification and Reporting of Abuse of Children

Target Population:
Primary health care takers including physicians, nurses and social workers

Objectives:
The course is held in collaboration with Israel's Ministry of Health and the Schusterman Foundation-Israel. The objective of this course is to improve the communication and clinical skills of primary health care professionals to better identify and manage pediatric patients who were abused and to discuss medical and legal issues.

Course Description:
Participants encounter actors simulating patients, their immediate family, or caretakers, in situations involving physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse and neglect.
Colleagues and debriefing facilitators observe the encounters through one-way glass panels.  Upon completion of the encounter, the participant receives feedback from the simulated patient, colleagues and debriefing facilitators, while watching the recorded session.
