Management of Injuries in the Workplace
Target Population: Healthcare professionals in companies and organizations including medics, paramedics, nurses, and physicians.
Objectives: By course completion, participants are expected to understand the dangers involved in treating injuries in the workplace; recognize the signs and symptoms of a hemodynamically unstable patient; demonstrate the use of various airway and oxygen adjuncts; identify methods for airway control and optimum ventilation; utilize fluids and pharmacological agents to stabilize the patient (where appropriate); and demonstrate knowledge and skills as a team leader and team member. The course emphasizes both leadership and teamwork in patient management.
Course Description: Cases are presented in small group teaching stations using task trainers and full-body patient simulators and simulated patients. Individuals and teams alternate between participation in, and viewing of realistic medical scenarios complete with sound effects and decor. A customized audiovisual system and one-way glass enable real-time observation of the scenarios. Viewing of the recorded material allows effective debriefing and constructive feedback to trainees. |
