Refresher of Advanced Cardiac Life Support Guidelines

Target Audience:
Medical, dental, nursing, or other healthcare professionals who have completed an ACLS course in the last two years and require recertification

Objectives:
Refresh knowledge in the signs and symptoms of acute coronary syndromes; the use of various airway and oxygen adjuncts; identify methods for airway control and optimum ventilation; normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms; management of sudden cardiac arrest, including the indications, precautions and proper use of electrical therapy; utilization of cardiovascular pharmacological agents; and demonstrate knowledge and skills as team member and team leader.

Course Description:
This one day course follows the AHA guidelines for ACLS recertification, and the designated core material is covered.  Cases are presented in small group teaching stations using task trainers and full-body simulators.  Participants who demonstrate the written knowledge and practical skills required to manage and treat a cardiovascular emergency will receive a certificate of successful completion.
