Crisis Resource Management in Cardiac Patients with Respiratory Distress
Target Population: Medical teams including physicians and nurses from cardiology units
Objectives: By course completion, participants are expected to recognize the signs and symptoms of respiratory distress in the cardiac patient. Participants need to demonstrate the use of various airway and oxygen adjuncts; identify methods for airway control and optimum ventilation, including non-invasive ventilation and various modes of positive pressure ventilation. In addition, they need to utilize fluids and pharmacological agents to stabilize the patient; and demonstrate knowledge and skills as a team leader and team member. The course emphasizes both aspects of crisis resources management and clinical skills in the treatment of cardiac patients with respiratory distress.
Course Description: Full body simulators create realistic cases complete with sound effects. Following the scenarios, the staff and participants watch and discuss the audiovisual recording in the debriefing session. | |
